On March 12th, 2020, Norway locked down because of the Covid-19 pandemic. I put myself in a volunteer quarantine. Frivillig Karantene is my first "Corona-album". Partly improvised - partly organized. Field recordings, electronics, software & laptop.

"March 12, 2020, Kristiansand, Norway - at a time of generalised hindrance and fatal suffocation, the sounds hunter, Terje Paulsen chooses exile and confinement, a voluntary quarantine. The existential choice of those who want to anticipate the constraint of authority?
Conceptual, the decor is set.
The sound images can now scroll - vintervarm - the distant and warm barrier, fed by a constant rhythmic flow, the slight cracking (sometimes) of a foreground, the milestone of a soundscape mixing the very relative amplitude of a reality on its less tangible alter ego. This initial journey (23:58) takes all the measure and Terje Paulsen, faithful to an authentic generosity, invites us to his table, playful artist who lets you choose your art of accommodating sounds.
Second step, alternative diagnose which revives a certain musicality, entry into dematerialization in favor of a fairer measure, particles, a moment crossed by a litany, these same particles drawing a fleeting perspective towards the eddies of a more felt humanity than asserted. Thus, at the tenth minute of this masterpiece, Paulsen, without any compromise, gives up all hope.

Intriguing these "fire års skygge", four years at the crackling of a surface traversed by a line of elegant infra-bass, before not checking the microphone walls, until the return of the line. Terje warned us "Partly improvised - partly organized", a powerful and striking mix crossed by a dull threat - feeling become frozen, thanks to a reading of reality and an active understanding of it. fire års skygge will remain intriguing but also visibly threatening.

Ending in full impro an apparently first episode, the eponymous "frivillig karantene" surprisingly lets show through the presence of its creator, stakeholder of a powerfully peremptory sound piece. Indisputable success, frivillig karantene truly demonstrates hyper atmospheric control over "l'air du temps" of the meteorologist from Kristiansand.
